Interactive Incursions

From STEM visits, to NRMA Road Safety shows and interactive environmental experiences, there's always something happening at Shalvey Public School!

This year, the students at Shalvey Public School have been involved in a range of encounters, right here at school! These hands-on experiences help to enrich the classroom learning, giving students first-hand knowledge of a range of topics.

Stage 3 students were involved in a full-day STEM incursion. They learnt to build, control and use a range of robotics throughout the day. They built strings of code on laptops, even having races with their creations!

Cultural Dance

Students from all cultural backgrounds are embraced and celebrated at Shalvey Public School. Under the guidance of Aunty Cino, our talented students learn a range of cultural dances throughout the year. These are then performed at various venues, including during Education Week at the local shopping centre.

Sports in Schools

Shalvey Public School students are offered a range of sporting opportunities, including regular Sports in Schools sessions, Wanderers Soccer Clinics and Gala Days.

All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are given the opportunity to learn new sporting skills from expert teachers during their fortnightly Sport in Schools session. Students have honed their athletics skills learning to do shot put, discus, even high jump! Many students were introduced to gymnastics for the first time, using a range of specialised equipment to build strength and movement skills.

Attendance

At Shalvey Public School, we place a strong emphasis on excellent student attendance.

When students are present each day, they stay connected to our school community, actively engage in their learning, and experience a true sense of belonging. We prioritise regular and consistent attendance because we know it plays a vital role in student success and wellbeing. To acknowledge and celebrate this, students are recognised each term and semester for their attendance efforts.

As an added incentive, students receive attendance tickets for every day they are at school, which go into the draw for our exciting prize giveaways held throughout the year. Attendance matters and it ensures that every student is known, valued, and cared for each day they are with us.
